The Italiand flag has been risen again with PETRA ZUBLASING setting a new World Record of 591 points and Gold Medal in the Final

ITALY'S PETRA ZUBLASING CLAIMED 50M RIFLE 3 POSITION WOMEN GOLD IN FORT BENNING
With a record score, and a great standing position in the final, the 24-year old athlete claimed Italy's second Gold medal.
The Italian flag has been risen again, today, at the 2014 ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup in Fort Benning, GA, USA, as Petra Zublasing won the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Women event.
The 24-year old Italian shooter turned out to be unbeatable, today. She qualified for the final match by setting a new world record of 591 points, and then ended up on the highest step of the podium with a final score 462.0 points in the medal match.
“It feels great. I set a new world record during the qualifications, but with the new rules that does not count in the final. You have to start from zero again, and build up the score shot after shot.” Zublasing said.
“My Standing series made the difference, during the final. I climbed back into the lead from the third place I had after the prone, and I made it to the highest step of the podium.”
The Italian shooter ranked second after the kneeling series, and then third after the prone series. But a great standing score lifted her up in first place, just 0.7 points behind the Final World Record of 462.7 points she had set at last year's ISSF World Cup Final in Munich.
“Standing is not my specialty.” Zublasing commented. “But I come from air rifle, where you compete in standing position, so I guess I've built a certain experience. I am normally a slow shooter, during the qualifications, but with the new rules you only have about 50 second per shot, during the standing series in the medal match. The pressure of the final pushes me to release the shots quicker than I normally do, but that worked fine, today.”
“This world cup stage ended up in the best way for me an Nicco (Niccolò Campriani, Petra's teammate and boyfriend who won yesterday's 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men final, ed.). We were not even supposed to compete here: the Italian team does not participate. But we had been invited to visit the White House along with the West Virginia Rifle team, so we took the chance to come, to train with our old team, and to compete. It has been a good decision, after all!”
The Silver medal went to People's Republic of China's Chang Jing, participating in her first ISSF World Cup final round here in Fort Benning. The 26-year old shooter placed in second with a final score of 458.2 points, pocketing her first ISSF medal ever in this event.
Sarah Scherer, claimed Bronze with 447.2 points, winning the first medal of USA at this world cup stage. The 23-year old rifle shooter had never won a world cup competition in this event, before.
Yulia Karimova (RUS), set a new Final World Record Junior with 413.7 points, closing the match in sixth place.

HEIDI DIETHELM GERBER WON HER FIRST 25M PISTOL WOMEN ISSF GOLD IN FORT BENNING

The Swiss shooter outdid a former Olympic Champion to win her first ISSF World Cup Gold medal at today's 25m Pistol Women medal match in Fort Benning.
Heidi Diethelm Gerber of Switzerland pocketed the 25m Pistol Women Gold medal, while competing in the first leg of this year's ISSF World Cup Series, in Fort Benning, GA, USA.

The 45-year old athlete, who only started competing in 2008, outdid 8 to 4 points the 1988 Olympic Champion and three-time Olympic medallist Nino Salukvadze of Georgia in the Gold medal match. The Swiss shooter had climbed up the scoreboard during the semifinal, finishing atop of the board with 18 hits.

Diethelm Gerber had never won an ISSF Gold medal, before. The Swiss shooter triumphed twice at European level, winning the 2011 and the 2013 European Championship, and she pocketed a world cup Bronze in Munich, last year.

Todays's Bronze medal went to the 26-year old Chinese shooter Zhang Jingjing, the 2013 ISSF World Cup Final winner, who outscored Antoaneta Boneva of Bulgaria 7 to 1 points. A bitter finish in this world cup stage for Boneva, who had won the 10m Air Pistol Women match on the first competition day, here in Fort Benning.

50m Rifle 3 Positions - ISSF World Cup - Capriani is the name of the Gold Medalist

HIGH PERFORMANCE AND FUN. CAMPRIANI'S FORMULA FOR SUCCESS.
Italy's Campriani won the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men event, in spite of a thrilling last shot. He proved once again to be the #1 in the world, almost two years after his victory at the London Games. What's the secret? That's the Italian formula for success.
The 2012 Olympic Champion Niccolò Campriani won today's 50m Rifle 3 Positions Men event, at the 2014 ISSF World Cup Stage in Fort Benning, GA, USA.
The Italian shooter started off the final with an excellent kneeling series, moving then atop of the scoreboard during the standing series, eventually finishing in the lead with a total score of 453.4 points.
A breathtaking last shot of 8.0-point did not stop him. Campriani had built a consistent advantage throughout the medal match, and his final score was still enough to win Gold over China's Kang Hongwei, who closed the match in second with a total of 453.0 points. With 443.1 points, the Bronze medal went to Russia's Nazar Louginets, the 24-year shooter who had won the 10m Air Rifle Men final just two days ago.
“It have been lucky” Campriani admitted, after the medal ceremony. If Kang Hongwei had not fired a disappointing 9.4-point last shot, the final standings could have changed dramatically.
“I am surprised that I did not fire any other 8 during the medal match. I have been shaking a lot during the final. I am not a fast shooter: I need my time to settle down and find the position.”
“Honestly, this medal came unexpected. The Italian team is not even participating in this competition. Petra (Zublasing, ed.) and I were here in the US, as we've been invited to the White House by President Obama along with our teammates of the West Virginia University Rifle Team a couple of weeks ago, so we decided to stay and compete. It has been a good decision.” Campriani explained.
The Italian shooter had closed the 2013 in the best possible way, by winning the ISSF World Cup Final, and he started-off the new season atop of the podium again, here in Fort Benning.
Ranked #1 in the world, Campriani is the man to beat, right now. But is that an advantage? Being in the lead adds extra pressure to the game? “I need to enjoy what I am doing. I am a professional shooter, now. That's something new, and I still have to get used to it.” Campriani said
“My wish for the 2014 season is to smile a little bit more. Shooting sport only works if you're having fun while doing it. I used to, and I want to regain that state of mind.”
“I will try my best to be ready for the ISSF World Championship. That's the most important competition of the year, as it will assign the Olympic Quota Places for Rio 2016. I don't want to speak about results: I just want to shoot in a good way and have fun.”
Can “fun” and “high performances” get along? Is that the Italian formula for success? Campriani thinks so, and he does not need to prove it: there are two Olympic medals shining in his trophy showcase.
The next ISSF World Championship is coming soon. The opening ceremony is set to take place in Granda, Spain, on the 7 of September. Campriani still has five months to refine his formula.

10m AIR PISTOL MEN - New World Record set by Vietnam's HOANG XUAN VINH

29.03.2014
VIETNAM'S HOANG SET A NEW 10M AIR PISTOL MEN RECORD IN FORT BENNING
The Vietnamese shooter keeps on climbing the world ranking. After winning last year's ISSF World Cup Stage in Changwon and making it to the medals match of the 2013 ISSF World Cup Finals, he set a new 10m Air Pistol Final World Record in Fort Benning, today.
Hoang Xuan Vinh, 39, from Vietnam, won today's 10m Air Pistol Men final at the 2014 ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup Stage in Fort Benning, GA, USA.

The Vietnamese athlete ranked 8th in the world pocketed the Gold medal with a record score of 202.8 points in the final, which shattered the previous 202.3-point record set by the 2008 Olympic Champion Pang Wei of China at the Asian Championship, in March.

Hoang beat the two Russian finalists Sergey Chervyakovskiy, 28, and Vladimir Gontcharov, 36, who finished in second and third place with 202.3 and 181.3 points, respectively.

Gontcharov, a 14-time ISSF World Cup medallist who started competing back in 1990, had been far from ISSF podiums since 2012, when he had won his last medal – a bronze – at the Rifle and Pistol World Cup Stage in Milan, Italy.
People's Republic of China's Pang Wei, coming from a victory claimed at the Asian Championship in Kuwait just 20 days ago, ended up in fifth place with 138.6 points, behind the Japanese first-time finalist Horimizu Kojiro (fourth with 158.8 points). Horimizu's teammate Matsuda Tomoyuki, the 2010 World Champion, ended up in sixth place with 117.8 points.

10m AIR RIFLE WOMEN - ISSF WORLD CUP - FORT BENNING

29.03.2014
CHANG (CHN) BEAT MAKSIMOVIC (SRB) IN THE DUEL FOR THE 10M AIR RIFLE WOMEN GOLD
The People's Republic of China won its first medal at the 2014 ISSF Rifle and Pistol held in Fort Benning, GA, USA, today. Thanks to Chang Jing, 26, currently ranked fifth in the world, who secured the Gold at the 10m Air Rifle Women final.
Chang, who started shooting on the international scene just two years ago, did not leave many chances to her opponents. With 209.1 points scored in the final, she closed the match in first with 1.5 points of advantage on the Silver medallist, Ivana Maksimovic of Serbia.

But that was not a surprise: Chang had only participated in two ISSF World Cup, last year, finishing on both podiums. Stats don't lie: when she's competing in ISSF World Cup air rifle matches, she's winning a medal.

The London 2012 Olympic medallist Ivana Maksimovic, 23, from Serbia, followed in second place, with a final score of 207.6 points. Enough to start off the new World Cup season on the podium, five months after winning a Silver medal at the 2013 ISSF World Cup Finals.

“It has been quite difficult for me, today.” Maksimovic said, wearing the Silver medal. The Serbian shooter fought shoulder and shoulder against Russia's Anna Zhukova throughout the whole match, right to the 18th shot, when Zhukova fired a disappointing 9.2-point shot, putting herself in third with a total score of 186.0 points.

“I have been feeling the pressure of the match, and I couldn't see anything! But I tried to resit and focus on each shot, and luckily I made it!” Maksimovic said.

“I am happy I could start off the world cup series with a medal. I won a Bronze at the European Championship in Moscow just a few weeks ago, and I feel great.” She added.

“2014 is an important season. I will be going to all world cup stages but Beijing, to prepare for the ISSF World Championship in Granada (where the first quota places for Rio 2016 will be assigned, ed.) I will spend a lot of time in Spain, training for that.”
Maksimovic has also been nominated as the 2014 Shooting Athlete Role Model for the Youth Olympic Games, so she will travel to Nanjing, China, next August. “It's exciting, I can't wait for that! I am really looking forward to the Youth Olympic Games, I am sure it's going to be a great experience.” Ivana concluded, with a smile on her face.
