Mongolia's Otryad claimed 25m Pistol Women Gold and an Olympic berth at Changwon's World Cup

The 25m Pistol Women Final closed Day-2 of the ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup in Changwon, being the last of the three medal matches conducted today.

The Mongolian 2008 Olympic Silver medallist Otryad Gundegmaa (36) finished atop of the podium beating the Chinese finalist, Lin Yuemei (21) in the Gold medal match, by 7 to 3 points.

Otryad had closed the semi-final in the lead with 18 hits, with one point of advantage on Lin. In the medal match, she turned out to be unbeatable, as she scored five hits in three consecutive series. Both Otryad and Lin were awarded a Rio 2016 Quota Place, the qualification slots to participate in the next Olympic Games.

Bulgaria's four-time World Cup Bronze medallist Antoaneta Boneva (29) claimed the Bronze medal, beating Malaysia's first-time finalist Alia Sazana Azahari, 23, with a score of 7 to 5 points in the medal match. The two podium contenders had both scored 16 hits in the semi-final.

The winner of last year's ISSF World Cup in Fort Benning, Switzerland's Heidi Diethelm Gerber (46) did not make it to the medal matches, as she closed the semi-final in fifth place with 15 hits. With the same score, Korea's hope Lee Jungeun (27) - competing in her first ISSF World Cup final match - who placed in sixth today.

Germany's 33-year old Stefanie Thurmann and Cao Lijia, 17, from the People's Republic of China placed in seventh and eighth with a score of 13 and 11 hits, respectively.

More than 570 athletes coming from 68 countries are competing in the ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup in Changwon (the third leg of this year's ISSF World Cup Series) held in Korea from the 9th through the 15th of April. The competition will continue tomorrow with the 50m Rifle Prone and the 10m Air Pistol Men Finals, which will be broadcasted live onwww.issf-sports.org at 12.00 and 14.00 (Changwon time).
