Test events included for the first time in the ISSF World Cup in New Delhi.

Out the four events scheduled, two have already been held, however, no result, nor how many teams participated in each event, was released for disclosure.

I have searched all the shooting sites for the results of the 10m test events for mixed teams in Air Rifle and Air Pistol.

I only found references of the Air Pistol event in the Indian press, certainly because the winning team was India's double mixed team and as a result, the report included Japan's second-ranked teams and Slovenia's third- only that.

None of the results achieved by each team and also no reference was made to the participation of other teams.

I assumed that these events would be an important test for the ISSF to demonstrate the correctness of their decision to replace the events of 50m Rifle Prone and 50m Pistol.

We would like the ISSF, after analyzing the results of the three test events in India, to make public their evaluation, the list of the teams that participated and the results obtained, as it should be in everyone's interest to have knowledge of this important Test that will modify the content of our sport in the next Olympiad in Tokyo.

New Delhi: India's ace shooters Jitu Rai and Heena Sidhu gave India its second medal in the ongoing ISSF World Cup by clinching gold in 10m pistol mixed team event at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range on Monday.
Jitu and Heena defeated Japan's Yukari Konishi and Tomoyuki Matsuda 5-3 in the final. Slovenia's Naphaswan Yangpaiboon and Kevin Venta were placed third.
However, since the mixed event is being used on a trial basis in line with IOC's aim to achieve gender equality in its 2020 Tokyo Olympics program, medals are not being awarded even though the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) executive committee has ratified the recommendations.
The recommendations to include mixed gender event was given by the Abhinav Bindra-led ISSF Athletes Committee and the world governing body soon approved the proposal.
Earlier, Pooja Ghatkar won the women's 10m air rifle bronze to give India its first medal in the competition.
The 28-year-old Ghatkar, a former Asian champion, shot 228.8 in the final of 10m air rifle to finish third on the podium and win her maiden World Cup medal.

James Willett pockets Australia’s second Gold medal in New Delhi

Final Double Trap Men

ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun · New Delhi, IND
In his third year as a senior shooter, the 21-year-old from the city of Mulwala, New South Wales, pocketed the third World Cup medal of his career. Home favorite Ankul Mittal and Great Britain’s James Dedman completed the podium by respectively taking Silver and Bronze.
The third Shotgun event of the ISSF World Cup Stage 1 in New Delhi (IND) crowned another young Australian, as Double Trap Men shooter James Willett (21) doubled the Gold medal pocketed by women’s Trap athlete Penny Smith on February 24th.

At the Dr. Karni Shooting Range, Willett took an early lead in the match by crushing all of his first 36 targets, but gradually lost ground to India’s Ankur Mittal (24) and found himself tied with his rival after 30 doubles, when the two of them were the only remaining shooters in the match.

There the Indian missed three hits in a very short span of time, while Willett shot with great precision and found himself sitting on a consistent gap with only five doubles remaining. The Australian athlete managed his advantage wisely, maintaining the lead and collecting the Gold medal with 75 hits, against Mittal’s with 74.

“The crowd was pretty passionate at the range,” Willett said after the medal ceremony. “They had a member of their team among the finalist so there was a lot of clapping and cheering. The atmosphere was good and also the weather conditions were quite nice.”

“I’ll keep competing in Double Trap this year, I’ll try to be at the top for the World Championship and for the Commonwealth Games,” added the Gold medalist.

“I’ll soon switch to Trap,” he concluded, talking about his plans for the mid-future.

On the third step of the podium, competing in a final match for the first time in his senior career, climbed James Dedman. The 18-year-old, who participated here in his third ISSF World Cup, finished with a score of 56 hits, missing a crucial target in his third-to-last double and marking a new Junior World Record in this event.

Dedman was followed by his more experienced teammate Steven Scott (32), who placed in 4th position with 46 targets.

The British shooter, Bronze medalist at last year’s Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (BRA), previously avoided the elimination by completing an almost perfect fourth series, where he crushed 9 out of 10 targets, overtaking Italy’s 26-year-old Alessandro Chianese who then closed in 5th position with 36 hits.

India’s second final participant Sangram Dahiya (27), a first-time final participant, was the first shooter to be eliminated from the match after the 15th double. He concluded in 6th position with 24 hits.

The ISSF World Cup Stage 1 in New Delhi will continue tomorrow with two more finals: the 10m Air Pistol Men at 11:30 am (UTC+5:30) and the 50m Rifle Prone Men at 1:30 pm. Both of them will be streamed live on www.issf-sports.org and on the ISSF official Facebook page.

News and updates about the competition are available on the ISSF website and on its social media profiles: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Weibo and Youku.
