The Spanish and the Czech shooters concluded the first two round of qualification with a perfect 50-out-of-50, while the Australian Trap Women athlete topped her rivals with 48 targets. Tomorrow, the Trap Women final is scheduled at 2:00 PM (UTC-3).
The first day of competitions at the ISSF World Cup in all events in Rio de Janeiro (BRA) is in the books, and both the Trap Men and the Trap Women shooters concluded two round of qualification.
The temporary Trap Men standings have two shooters sharing the top positions with a perfect 50-out-of-50 score: Spain’s Alberto Fernandez, the Gold medallist at this year’s first World Cup stage in Shotgun events, and Czech Republic’s Jiri Liptak.
Behind Fernandez and Liptak, in 3rd place, a trio of shooters tied at 49: the London 2012 Gold medallist Giovanni Cernogoraz of Croatia, Josip Glasnovic, also of Croatia, and Yannick Peeters.
In the Trap Women qualification, two Australian shooters claimed the top two positions after day 1: Catherine Skinner is currently ranked 1st with 48 hits, while her teammate Laetisha Scanlan sits only one step behind at 47. Germany’s Sonja Scheibl also concluded the first two rounds of qualification with 47 targets and is currently in 3rd position.
The ISSF World Cup stage in Rio de Janeiro will continue tomorrow, when three finals will take place: the 10m Air Rifle Women, scheduled at 12:30 PM (UTC-3), the Trap Women, scheduled at 2:00 PM, and the 10m Air Pistol Men, scheduled at 4:15 PM.
