ISSF Junior World Cup Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun · Gabala, AZE
Almost 300 hundred junior athletes will compete for the 36 individual and team Gold medals at the Gabala Shooting Club.
Skeet and Double Trap junior shooters started training today at the Gabala Shooting Club, where the second ISSF Junior World Cup of the season will deliver its first sets of medals tomorrow.
The 50m Rifle Prone Men Junior final is expected to take place at 2:00 PM (UTC+4), followed by the Skeet Women Junior at 4:00 PM and by the Double Trap Men Junior at 5:00 PM.
279 junior shooters will participate in the competition, representing 27 countries and piling up 398 starts in the 15 Olympic Shooting events and in three additional ones: 25m Standard Pistol Men Junior, 25m Pistol Men Junior and 50m Rifle Prone Women Junior.
“We are extremely happy about the preparation for this Junior World Cup,” said Mr. Wilhelm-Xaver Grill, the ISSF Competition Manager in Gabala. “This is the third year in a row that Gabala hosts an ISSF competition, and the organization is getting better every time.”
“The shooting range is awesome, and all the athletes are happy to compete in such a high-level venue.” He concluded.
In the first ISSF Junior World Cup of the 2016 season, held in Suhl (GER) from April 29th to May 6th, Italy finished atop the medal table with 7 Golds, 4 Silver and 1 Bronze, followed by the Russian Federation with 20 total medal, the highest number of the competition, divided in 5 Golds, 6 Silver and 9 Bronzes.
