Final 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team; Final 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team; Final Trap Mixed Team


India’s Jitu Rai and Heena Sidhu take historic Gold in New Delhi
The two Pistol shooters climbed atop the podium at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, ruling the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event and besting France and the People’s Republic of China, who respectively took Silver and Bronze.
The ISSF World Cup Final in New Delhi (IND) immediately crowned the home team, as Heena Sidhu and Jitu Rai climbed atop the podium in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team, becoming the first two of athletes to claim the ISSF crystal globes in this specific event.

Despite starting off with a 2.5-point disadvantage from the lead after the first series of five shots, Sidhu and Rai gradually closed the gap on France’s Florian Fouquet (24) and Celine Goberville (31), tying the score at 343.1 after 34 shots, and building a consistent gap with the following and decisive series.

30-year-old Rai and 28-year-old Sidhu finished with 483.4 points and the Gold medal around their neck, while their French rivals secured Silver with 481.1.

“It feels great to win here in front of our people, even if this puts a little extra-pressure on us,” said Sidhu at the end of the medal ceremony. “There were high expectations on us and a lot of eyes were looking at me and Jitu for this final, that’s why we trained a lot together in the last days.”

“We like this format, it’s a bit longer than the other ones we tried, but we like definitely like it,” added Rai, who previously won two medals during the ISSF World Cup Stage 1 that took place in New Delhi last February and March.

The Bronze medal was awarded to Yang Wei (32) and Cai Xiaoxue (25) of the People’s Republic of China, who failed to match the pace set by India and France, firmly holding 3rd place and finishing 3rd with 418.2 total points.

Pavlo Korostylov (19) and Yulia Korostylova (33) of Ukraine left the match after 34 total shots, taking 5th place with 333.2 points. Four shots later, it was Chinese Taipei’s 23-year-old Kuo Kuan-Ting and 21-year-old Yu Ai Wen who were eliminated, as they finished with 373.0 points and took 4th place




China rules the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team final, takes Gold and Bronze
Song Buhan and Wu Mingyang pocketed the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team trophy in New Delhi, beating Serbia’s Milutin Stefanovic and Andrea Arsovic at the end of a tight battle. Sui Gengcheng and Shi Mengyao also brought the Chinese flag on the podium, placing 3rd and taking Bronze medal.

The first ISSF World Cup Final trophy in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event was awarded to the People’s Republic of China, who placed both of their teams in the final and eventually grabbed the title with 20-year-old Song Buhan and 20-year-old Wu Mingyang.

Song and Wu battled all along the final match with Serbian shooters Milutin Stefanovic (32) and Andrea Arsovic (30), swapping positions more than once and definitely taking the lead only towards the end of the match.

The two Chinese youngsters pocketed the Gold medal and the ISSF crystal globes with the final score of 499.8 points, while Stefanovic and Arsovic finished with 496.8 and the Silver medals around their neck.

The podium was completed by the second Chinese team who participated: after qualifying with the highest score, in fact, 19-year-old Sui Gengcheng and 19-year-old Shi Mengyao took Bronze with 430.3 total points.

Despite suffering a 2.0-point penalty at the end of the second series, India’s Deepak Kumar (29) and Meghana Sajjanar (23) survived a tie-breaking shoot-off to determine the 5th place, eventually finishing in 4th with 387.4 total points.

The Islamic Republic of Iran was the first team to be eliminated from the match, as 35-year-old Hossein Bagheri and 35-year-old Elaheh Ahmadi lost the aforementioned shoot-off against India and finished in 5th position with 345.9 points.

Bailon and Martinez of Spain finally climb atop the Trap Mixed Team podium in New Delhi
The Spanish team, who took Silver at last month’s ISSF World Championship Shotgun in Moscow (RUS), claimed the ISSF World Cup Final title in New Delhi, preceding Italy’s Giovanni Pellielo and Jessica Rossi, who took Silver, and United States’ Derek Haldeman and Ashley Carroll, who won Bronze.
Spain’s Trap shooters Antonio Bailon (33) and Beatriz Martinez (31) barely missed the title at last month’s ISSF World Championship Shotgun in Moscow. Now, a few weeks later, they finally climbed atop the Trap Mixed Team podium in New Delhi (IND), claiming the ISSF World Cup Final trophy by crushing 42 out of 50 targets.

After missing three of their first 15 targets, the two Spaniards crushed 27 of the following 28, definitely taking the lead and defending their position against the comeback of Italy’s Giovanni Pellielo (47) and Jessica Rossi (25), who then finished in 2nd position with 40 hits out of 50 and the Silver medal around their neck.,

“In Moscow, we felt like we didn’t win the Silver, but we lost the Gold,” said Martinez at the end of the medal ceremony. “That’s what they used to say in Spain after the World Championship.”
 “It feels great, it’s a liberation. We finally made it!” She concluded. “We didn’t train specifically for this final, it was our first time ever with this format.”

 The Bronze medal was awarded to United States’ Derek Haldeman (26) and Ashley Carroll (22), who doubled the result they nailed in Moscow, crushing 31 out of 40 targets and placing 3rd.

 Just outside of the medal positions placed the second Spanish team composed by 34-year-old Alberto Fernandez and 30-year-old Fatima Galvez, who concluded with 28 hits out of 35 targets and placed 4th.

Australia’s 25-year-old Thomas Derek Grice and 22-year-old Penny Smith, the reigning ISSF World Champions in this event, left the match after 25 targets, hitting 18 total clays and finishing in 6th place. Five targets later it was the People’s Republic of China’s turn, as Yu Shuo (29) and Wang Xiaojing (25) hit 23 out of 30 targets and took 5th place.
