ISSF SHOTGUN WORLD CUP IN NICOSIA “A GREAT COMPETITION”. MEDALS AND RECORDS
Italy finished atop of the medal standings of an event described as a “great competition” by the ISSF Secretary General Franz Schreiber.
Today's Skeet Men final concluded the 2013 ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Nicosia, Cyprus. There, more than 380 shooters coming from 58 countries competed in the five Olympic events of shotgun shooting from the 10 to the 16 of June. Following Acapulco (MEX) and Al Ain (UAE), Nicosia's was the third step of this year's ISSF Wolrd Cup Series.
“It has been a great competition. We have to thank the Cyprus Shooting Sport Federation for hosting such a successful World Cup Stage.” The ISSF Secretary General Franz Schreiber said, at today's closing ceremony.
“We are proud to be entrusted by the International Shooting Sport Federation, and we hope to have all of you athletes back again here in Cyprus soon.” Mr. Demetris Lordos, the President of the Cyprus Shooting Sport Federation replied.

Italy finished atop of the medal standings, with one medal of each color. The People's Republic of China and the Russian Federation followed in second place, with one Gold medal each. The home country, Cyprus, ended up in sixth place, with one Silver medal won at the Skeet Women event, yesterday.

Four Skeet records were equalled, during this ISSF World Cup Stage. Danka Bartekova (SVK) and Andri Eleftheriou (CYP) equalled the world record of 73 hits out of 75 targets at the Skeet Women qualifications. Great Britain's Amber Hill, the 16-year old winner of this year's first ISSF World Cup stage in Acapulco, equalled the Skeet Junior Women world record of 71 hits. Henri Sorvo, from Finland, equalled the Skeet Junior Men world record with 121 hits.

The 2013 ISSF World Cup Series will now continue in Granada, Spain, where a combined World Cup stage in Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun events will take place from the 3 through the 12 of July.
