BULGARIA'S BONEVA BEAT INDIA'S SIDHU TO WIN 10M AIR PISTOL WOMEN FINAL IN FORT BENNING
Antoaneta Boneva won her first international ISSF medal since 2011, at the ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup Stage in Fort Benning, today. The Bulgarian shooter ended up in first with a 3-points lead over her follower.
After the victory of Russia's Nazar Luginets at today's 10m Air Rifle Men event, the first leg of the 2014 ISSF World Cup Series, held in Fort Benning, GA, USA, continued today with the 10m Air Pistol Women final.
The second Gold medal of this World Cup Stage went to the 28-year old Bulgarian shooter Antoaneta Boneva, an Olympic finalist of London 2012, who finished on the highest step of the podium with a score of 203.6 points.
Boneva, who had never won an ISSF World Cup Stage Gold medal before, outscored the Indian finalist Heena Sidhu, 24, who closed the match in second place almost three points behind her, with a score of 200.8 points.
The Bronze medal went to Serbia's Zorana Arunovic, 27, with 180.9 points. Arunovic had pocketed a Bronze on these lines also at last year's World Cup Stage held here.
The 2008 and 2012 Olympic Champion Guo Wenjun, 29. from the People's Republic of China, followed them in fourth place, with 160.2 points.
The ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup Stage in Fort Benning will continue tomorrow with the 10m Air Pistol Men and the 10m Air Rifle Women events.
