Today's 25m Rapid Fire
Pistol Men event closed the first ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup stage of the
year, held in Fort Benning, GA, USA, from the 26th of March
through the 3rd of April.
“I am always happy here: all the shooters of the
world consider Fort Benning as the University of Shooting.” The ISSF President,
Mr. Olegario Vazquez Raña, said.
The Russian Federation finished atop of the overall
medal standings of the world cup stage, with 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 3 Bronze
medals. Italy followed in second with 2 Gold, won in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions
Men and Women events by Niccolò Campriani and Petra Zublasing. The People's
Republic of China, with 6 medals (1 Gold, 3 Silver, 2 Bronze) closed the stage
in third place.
A new Final World Record of 202.8 points was set by
Hoang Xuan Vinh (VIE) in the 10m Air Pistol Men event, while it was Italy's
Petra Zublasing who scored a new World Record of 591 points in the 50m Rifle 3
Positions Women event. Yulia Karimova, 19, from Russia, marked the new Final
World Record Junior in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Women final, with 413.7
points.
The ISSF World Cup Series will now continue with
the first Shotgun Stage, taking place in Tucson, Arizona, USA, starting from
the 8 through the 15 of April.
