Kamensky is the new king of 10m Air Rifle Men

Men’s 10m Air Rifle was one of the most interesting competition in Györ while there was also the 3 last Olympic quotas to be taken. The eight best athletes who qualified into the final were: Sergey Kamensky (RUS), Petar Gorsa (CRO ), Illia Charheika (BLR), Vladimir Maslennikov (RUS), Gernot Rumpler (AUT), Ole Magnus Bakken (NOR), Vitali Bubnovich (BLR) and Julian Justus (GER).

The situation with quotas and the finalists was such that only Norway (Ole Magnus Bakken) and Germany (Julian Justus) did not have yet quota places filled. The other athletes had already won a quota them self or some other from their country filled the places. So that was relaxing information for Bakken and Justus. The third and last quota travelled to the Jorge Diaz (ESP) from the 11th place from the Qualification.

Anyway the men 10m final was attractive sport entertainment. It was quite tight between Sergey Kamensky (RUS) and Illia Charheika and Peter Gorsa. Kamensky ruled but just behind him followed very near these athletes and the diffence was big. During the finals there were seen many top results (10.-10.8). Sergey Kamensky was in some way superior, if there was need better results, he did it. The most dramatic moment felt during the 17th shot. Croatian Gorsa had climbed up to the second place and was only 0.8 behind Kamensky, but his shot hit result 3.7 and he lost his possibilities and won bronze. The battle of gold was triumph of Sergey Kamensky (RUS) who won the European title with result 207.2. When Gorsa had dropped down the silver medal winner was Belarushian Illia Charheika (206.4), the difference for gold 0.8 points.

Olena Kostevyc defended successfully her Champion title

The last day started with the 10m Air Pistol Women Qualification Competition. And what kind of qualification!!! As we know there can be only eight best in the finals. Now the limit result was 380. There were already five athletes who had shot over 380 and still six shooter who shot 380! Wow, exciting start for the day and for the final!

The same fireworks continued also in the final. Among the finalists there were five athletes belonging to the seven best athletes in the world ranking. When the qualification was already amazing so was the final too.




It looked in the beginning that this will be the triumph of Zorana Arunovic while she took the leading position after seventh shot and stayed there even until to the 15th shot. Then the defending European Champion started to show, who is the hostess of the house. In the 15th shot Kostevyc shot 10,8 and arose to the second position just 0.5 points after Arunovic.

Shot 16: Arunovic get a little bit nervous and shoot 9.3, Kostevyc to the top but only with 0.4difference. Bulgerian Antoaneta Boneta passed also Arunovic at the 17th shot and that meant that Arunovic won Bronze. Boneva couldn’t pass any more, so the rest was triumph of Kostevyc. The final finished with an excellent way, while the two best shot 10.4 in the last shot.

Olena Kostevyc (UKR) was the second defending Champion who had renewed the title. Her result was 200.9. The silver medalist Antoaneta Boneta (BUL) shot 199.0 and the bronze medalist Arunovic (SRB) won her medal with result 177.8.

Kostevych and Kamenskiy claim victories on final day of European Shooting Championships

Eastern domination continued today at the European 10 metre Championships in Győr as Ukraine's Olena Kostevych and Russia's Sergey Kamenskiy claimed the respective women's pistol and men's rifle events as the four-day event came to a close.

Kostevych is one of the most dominant names in women's pistol shooting in recent years, having followed 10m gold at Athens 2004 with 10 and 25m bronzes eight years later at London 2012.

She also won gold as a teenager at the 2002 World Championships in Lahti as well as another victory at last year's European Championships in Arnhem.

The 30-year-old won a thrilling battle with Bulgaria's Antoaneta Boneva to post a superb score of 200.9.

Boneva ended up on 199.0 while Serbia's Zorana Arunovic claimed bronze with 177.8.

Kamenskiy, a home gold medal winner at the Kazan 2013 Summer Universiade in the 50m rifle prone event, was similarly dominant in the men's 10m air rifle competition.

He trailed Belarus' Illia Charheika in the early stages before breaking clear for an eventual winning total of 207.2.

Charheika held on for silver on 206.4.

Petar Gorsa of Croatia took bronze with 180.1.

The 10m Air Pistol was ruled by Ysuf Dikec

Among the eight finalists, there were only three athletes who have not yet managed to win an Olympic Quota place before and they all received it without any extra push while there were three last quotas also in this event. Notwithstanding the battle of quotas the final served exciting elements for the spectators while the athletes competed of honor and European Championship. That is a real sport! The winner of the final was experienced Ysuf Dikec from Turkey. Behind Dikec the battle of silver and bronze medals was harder while there were athletes who were multi-medalists and had really good merits. The only one who has not yet won any medals in European Championship was Pablo Carrera from Spain. Even he hadn’t have succeeded to win any ECH medal, he did it today with a style. He lost gold medal only with the difference of 0.9 points (197.6). Not bad at all! The European Championship result of Mr. Dikec was 198.5. The winner of bronze medal was Ukrainian Pavlo Korostylov (178.4). Those who won the quotas were Miklos Tatrai (HUN), Tsotne Machavariani (GEO), Wojciech Knapik (POL).

10m Air Rifle Women competition was a sporty fireworks

The 10 m Air Rifle was the most popular competition in the European Championship in Györ. In this event, there were 96 participants, from whom 8 qualified into the final. This was also the first of the three finals where athletes tried to achieve an Olympic quota place for Rio. Among the eight finalists, there were four athletes who did not yet have achieved quotas, but there were only three quotas left. These athletes were Hungarian Juliana Miskolczi, Croatian Tanja Perec, Ziva Dvorsak from Slovenia and Petra Lustenberger from Switzerland. All the finalists were experienced athletes in spite of Swiss Lustenberger to whom this final was first European Championship final.

Some way the story of this final game was clear quite well from the beginning. The gold medal would be duel Norwegian Marlin Westerheim and Serbian Andrea Arsovic. These two athletes kept the leading position all the time. In the beginning, Werterheim ruled, but during the 13th shot Arsovic and Westerheim, they were even. After 14th shot Arsovic finally passed the Norwegian, but only with the difference of 0.1 points. The lead of Arsovic changed between 0.6 points to 0.1. What a thriller. Weinheimer tried to attack during the last shots but it was not enough powerful and Arsovic won Westerheim with a difference of 1.1 points. The winning result of Arsovic was 207.7 and the silver medalist reached 206.6.

The Olympic quota places were solved after eight shots when the first athlete will be drop out. This athlete was, unfortunately, Ziva Dvorsak from Slovenia. The three quota places achieved Julianna Miskolczi; HUN (7.), Tanja Perec CRO (6) and finally Petra Lustenberger (3) who won bronze with the result 185.5.

HISTORICAL DOUBLE GOLD FOR HUNGARY CROWNED THE SECOND COMPETITION DAY IN GYÖR

The end of the second competition day the 25th of February was triumph of hosting country Hungary.

Mixed Team competition in Air Rifle and Air Pistol had the official “label” of European Championship for first time in Györ. 

These competitions were taken as official events after their successful debut at the 1st European Games in Baku. The Teams consist of a female and a male athlete. In Györ this event showed that it will interest junior athletes while in both events there were teams from twenty countries. 

The Air Rifle Mixed Junior Teams 

Through the Qualification eight best teams had been qualified to the final events in air rifle and air pistol. The finals in Air rifle had organized in two part: four teams in each parts. The qualified teams were: Nederland, Hungary, Turkey, Croatia, Serbia, Israel, Russian Federation and Switzerland. The best from the four teams groups received the place into the Gold Match and the second best to the Bronze Match. The winner of the first set was Hungary who beat Netherland: Hungary to the Gold Match and Netherland to the Bronze Match.

In the second set Switzerland won Israel and continued to the Gold Match and Israel continued to compete from bronze. The winner of the medal matches is the team who first achieves 5 points.

The Bronze Match was triumph of Team Israel while it was superior by winning Netherland with result 5-0.

In the Gold Match met Hungary and Switzerland. It looked like that Switzerland would take the gold medals while it was leading after 6th shots already 4-2 when Hungarian athletes woke up to battle. Hungary won the next shot, situation 4-3 for Swiss team. In the next shot both teams achieved an equal result 20.6 – not any point for each. Hungary won the next shot, situation 4-4. The last shot: Swiss Team shot 10.2 and 10.0, Hungarian team 10.0 and finally 10.6. The first European Championship of Air Rifle Mixed Teams stayed in Hungary with result 5-4. The Golden Hungarian team consisted of Viktoria Hurai and Istvan Peni.

Air Pistol Mixed Junior Teams

Into the Pistol Mixed Teams competition competed in the same way. Italy, France, Poland, Russian Federation, Croatia, Hungary, Slovenia and Slovakia had been qualified to the final event.

In the first set Poland was the best and continued to the Gold Match and Russian Federation reached the place into the Bronze Match. The winner of the second set was surprisingly Hungary again when they beat Slovenia.

The Bronze Match continued very tight into end. Situation was 4-4 before the last shot. Russian Margarita Lomova and Artem Cherhousov shot both 10.2 when Slovenian Jagoda Tkalec and Joze Ceper could reach only 8.7 and 9.9. Bronze medals travelled to Russian Federation.

In the Gold Match the team of Poland (Agata Nowak/Patryk Sakowski) and Hungary (Veronika Major/Istvan Peni). When six shots had been shot the situation was equal 3-3. Hungary won the next shot, then Poland the next one: 4-4. Last shot: Polish athletes achieved 9.5 and 10.1. After few seconds the score board told the results of the Hungarian team: 10.6 and 10.2. Hungary won the first European Championship in Air Pistol Mixed Team competition with result 5-4. The historical double golden party of Hungary was ready to start. That was a splendid day for the hosting country!

The IOC officially launches the new Olympic Athletes’ Hub

The web-based platform, also be available for downloads as a mobile application, will continue to showcase the best social media contents coming from Olympians around the world.

The revamped Olympic Athletes’ Hub, an online one-stop-shop for athletes and Olympians with plenty of informations about the Games, career transitions, job opportunities, health and training, is now officially launched and live atwww.olympic.org/athleteshub.

The official accounts of over 6,000 Olympians can already be found on the site.

The Olympic Athletes’ Hub was redesigned in a move to strengthen support to athletes as outlined in Olympic Agenda 2020, the IOC’s strategic roadmap for the future of the Olympic Movement that was adopted in December 2014.

In the Hub, athletes can learn about and share their own experiences, on and off the field. Special focus is placed on the protection of clean athletes from all sort of manipulation, while another important topic is the health of athletes and how to avoid injuries and illnesses, as well as the prevention of harassment and abuse in sport. 

Moreover, athletes who sign up to the Hub can access content tailored to them, including special offers from The Olympic Partners (TOP) and other Olympic Movement stakeholders.

“Strengthening the role of the athletes is one of the top priorities of the IOC as emphasised in Olympic Agenda 2020. The Athletes’ Hub helps us improve support for the athletes and communication between them. I wish such an opportunity had been there when I was an athlete.” Said IOC President Thomas Bach.

European Championship 10m · Gyor, HUN

The European Championship 10m kicked-off in Gyor

During the four days of competitions, from February 24th to February 27th, thirty-two total events will take place, with 12 Olympic quota places up for grabs in the four individual Air Rifle and Air Pistol ones.

The city of Gyor (HUN), capital of the Gyor-Moson-Sopron county, hosted yesterday the opening ceremony of the 10m European Championship, where 599 athletes coming from 47 countries will participate in 16 individual and 16 team shooting events.

Among the scheduled events, the four Air Rifle and Air Pistol matches will deliver 12 Olympic quota places, 3 for each event. The 12 slots will be added to the 15 awarded during the Baku 2015 European Games, the 21 delivered at the 25m, 50m and Shotgun championship in Maribor (SLO), and to the 309 distributed during other continental and international events.

The schedule of the four Air Rifle and Air Pistol finals is the following:

Friday 26th:

Número um do ranking mundial, Alexandre Galgani colocou o Brasil no topo do pódio na abertura da Copa Brasil de tiro esportivo paralímpico, nesta sexta-feira, em Brasília. A competição marca o início das disputas da modalidade em 2016 e teve logo em seu primeiro dia vitória de brasileiro garantido nos Jogos Paralímpicos do Rio. Na categoria R9, (Carabina 22 - 50m - Posição deitado - Misto - SH2), o paulista marcou 600,8 pontos e faturou o título. Celso Ricardo Moraes ficou em segundo lugar na prova, com 482,6.

- É uma conquista, o resultado de um trabalho e me deixa feliz por ganhar mais uma medalha - comentou o atleta que representará o Brasil nas provas R4 (Carabina de Ar - Posição em pé - Misto - SH1) e R5 (Carabina de Ar - Posição deitado - Misto - SH2) no tiro esportivo, em setembro, no Rio 2016.

Galgani destacou a evolução e a prática de atividades como yoga para melhorar a concentração. 

- Estou melhorando cada vez mais, com os treinos, com o feedback (técnica utilizada com eletrodos para teste de concentração) e yoga. Espero chegar nos Jogos na minha melhor fase - comentou o atleta que representará o Brasil nas provas R4 (Carabina de Ar - Posição em pé - Misto - SH1) e R5 (Carabina de Ar - Posição deitado - Misto - SH2) no tiro esportivo, em setembro no Rio. 
 
Nos próximos meses, o paulista se junta à seleção brasileira para a disputa de duas etapas da Copa do Mundo: em Bangkok, na Tailândia, no próximo mês, e em Hannover, na Alemanha, em maio. 

Em Brasília, ainda pelas provas de carabina (R6), Carlos Garletti confirmou o favoritismo e ficou em primeiro lugar, com 611 pontos. Luiz Nelson veio logo atrás, ao marcar 580,3, e Geremias Soares completou o pódio, com 576. A competição segue no sábado e vai até domingo.

Copa Brasil de Tiro Esportivo termina com quatro recordes brasileiros e anima coordenador técnico da modalidade

A I Copa Brasil de Tiro Esportivo paralímpico terminou neste domingo, 21, em Brasília, com resultados animadores para atletas e técnicos. Em três dias de provas, quatro recordes brasileiros foram quebrados, e todos eles pelos três atiradores classificados para os Jogos Paralímpicos do Rio. A competição reuniu 55 atletas de nove estados e foi disputada nos estandes da Federação Brasiliense de Tiro Esportivo, no Setor de Clubes Sul.

Os destaques do campeonato, de acordo com Fernando Cardoso, coordenador da modalidade no Comitê Paralímpico Brasileiro, foram, principalmente, Geraldo Von Rosenthal (dois recordes), Débora Campos e Alexandre Galgani, os três atletas brasileiros que conquistaram vaga direta para os Jogos do Rio, em setembro.

“Fiquei surpreendido com o desempenho dos atletas, principalmente dos nossos três classificados para os Jogos Paralímpicos. Eles estabeleceram novos recordes, que já pertenciam a eles em suas provas. Débora e Alexandre fizeram novas marcas em finais. Isso é muito importante porque nas finais que as medalhas são decididas. Mostrou que eles estão muito concentrados nos momentos cruciais. O Geraldo fez uma pontuação excelente na pistola livre [536 pontos, recorde brasileiro]. Nas competições internacionais ele costumava ficar em 5º ou 6º, mas com essa pontuação ele pode subir e até chegar a um pódio nas próximas”, resumiu.

O desempenho geral dos atletas, porém, ainda não está no nível ideal, segundo Cardoso. O coordenador técnico explica que todas as marcas e recordes são impressionantes, mas que ainda precisam ser melhoradas até setembro, mês do mais importante evento do paradesporto.

“Colocamos metas para este ano e nenhum deles as atingiu ainda, apesar de terem batido recordes. Nosso objetivo para os Jogos é bem maior. Esperamos que eles ainda melhorem muito daqui até setembro. Daqui para frente, nós da comissão técnica vamos exigir cada vez mais. Tanto na parte de técnica, quanto na parte médica, na fisioterapia, em todos os aspectos vamos ser mais exigentes para que evoluam sempre”, alertou Cardoso.

Neste domingo, foram disputadas as provas P3 (Pistola Sport 25m misto), R4 (Carabina de ar 10m em pé), R7 e R8 (ambas Carabina .22 50m em três posições). Na P3, o pódio foi formado por Geraldo Von Rosenthal, com 556 pontos, Joaquim dos Santos, com 544, e Sérgio Vida, com 533. Na R4, o campeão foi Alexandre Galgani, com 210,2 pontos (recorde brasileiro), que foi seguido por Rodrigo Vianna, com 207,7, e Bruno Stov, com 183,5. Na R7, Carlos Garletti anotou 1080 pontos para ficar com o ouro, Benedito da Silva alcançou 1026 e ficou com a prata, e o bronze foi para Sandro Santorum, que marcou 948 pontos. Na R8, única prova feminina do dia, a campeã foi Clenilza Gonçalves, com 382 pontos, e a vice foi Silvia Regina Martines, com 313.

Novo Recorde de Pistola 50M - Copa Brasil Paralímpico - Brasilia.

O segundo dia de competições na I Copa Brasil de Tiro Esportivo paralímpico, em Brasília, começou com uma quebra de recorde brasileiro na P4 (pistola livre misto 50m). O responsável pela nova marca foi Geraldo Von Rosenthal, atleta da Seleção Brasileira que está classificado para os Jogos Paralímpicos exatamente nesta prova. O campeonato abre o calendário da modalidade no ano e está sendo disputado na Federação Brasiliense de Tiro Esportivo, no Setor de Clubes Sul, trecho 4.

O gaúcho anotou 536 pontos neste sábado para quebrar o recorde brasileiro – antes, era de 528. Em um ano muito importante para a modalidade, que pela primeira vez terá três atletas classificados para os Jogos do Rio de forma direta, ao alcançar a pontuação mínima em uma competição chancelada pelo Comitê Paralímpico Internacional (IPC, sigla em inglês), Rosenthal ressaltou sua forma de trabalhar para seguir evoluindo.

“O trabalho é de todo mundo (comissão técnica), não é só meu. Eu faço meu dever de casa, que é treinar forte todos os dias, investir em munição, fazer um trabalho psicológico e tudo para melhorar nos próximos seis meses. Querendo ou não, a pressão sempre aparece e a gente tem que responder na prova com tudo que a gente treinou”, disse.

Confiante com o recorde brasileiro quebrado neste sábado, o atirador ainda lembra um fato importante sobre os 536 pontos alcançados na disputa. “A pontuação que fiz hoje, acima de 530, entra em final de todas as competições internacionais que conheço. Dá pra melhorar e o Fernando Cardoso [coordenador técnico da modalidade] está pegando duro com a gente para isso”, observou.

No pódio, o campeão foi acompanhado por Joaquim Santos, na segunda posição, com 487 pontos, e Débora Campos, em terceiro, com 482 tentos anotados. As provas seguem na tarde deste sábado, a partir das 14h, e no domingo, das 9h às 12h30.

Italy nominates its nine Shotgun athletes for Rio 2016

Chiara Cainero, Massimo Fabbrizi, Giovanni Pellielo and Jessica Rossi, who all earned at least one Olympic medal in the past, will be part of the team, while four other shooters will experience an Olympiad for the first time.

FITAV, the Italian Shotgun Federation, officially named the nine shooter that will take part in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

They are:

Diana Bacosi, 32 years old, Skeet Women.

Antonino Barillà, 28, Double Trap Men.

Chiara Cainero, 37, Skeet Women.

Massimo Fabbrizi, 38, Trap Men.

Marco Innocenti, 37, Double Trap Men.

Valerio Luchini, 33, Skeet Men.

Giovanni Pellielo, 46, Trap Men.

Gabriele Rossetti, 20, Skeet Men.

Jessica Rossi, 24, Trap Women.

Cainero, Fabbrizi, Innocenti, Pellielo and Rossi all have previous experience at the Games, with four of them also reaching the podium.

Massimo Fabbrizi placed 2nd in the Trap Men event at the London 2012 Olympics, where Jessica Rossi collected the Trap Women Gold medal. Chiara Cainero won the Gold in Beijing (CHN) in 2008, while Giovanni Pellielo counts three medals in his resume: 2 Silvers, collected in Athens (GRE) and Beijing, and 1 Bronze, pocketed in Sydney (AUS).

Rio 2016 will mark the first Olympic participation for Double Trap Men shooter Antonino Barillà, and for the two Skeet Men athletes, Valerio Luchini and Gabriele Rossetti, the holder of the ISSF World Cup Final title. Diana Bacosi, who collected the Gold medal at last year’s World Cup stage in Al Ain, where her teammate Chiara Cainero finished 2nd, will also participate in his first Olympiad.

“As usual, we present one of the most numerous Shotgun team.” Said Luciano Rossi, Vice-President of the ISSF and President of the FITAV, the Italian Shotgun Federation. ”We are the only country with nine Olympic quotas, and we surely named the best team possible. Our athletes and coaches will do their best for sure, not only for the national federation or for the National Olympic Committee, but also for the whole country!” Concluded Rossi.

The coaches, Andrea Benelli, Mirco Cenci and Albano Pera, also named 5 reserve shooters: Valerio Grazini and Silvana Stanco for the Trap events; and Riccardo Filippelli, Luigi Lodde and Katiuscia Spada for the Skeet events.
