The experienced Olympic medalist and the up-and-coming junior world champion beat Team China 1 and Team China 2 to collect their first gold medal in this event.
The 2018 ISSF World Cup in Munich continues today with the Mixed Team competitions, the new events recently added to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Programs.
Russia’s Sergey Kemenskiy and her teammate Anastasiia Galashina climbed atop today’s 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event, during the last competition day this world cup stage.
The two athlete scored 499.6 points, beating Team China 1 (Wu Mingyang and Song Buhan) and Team China 2 (Wang Luyao and Yu Haonan) in the final match.
Team China 1 claimed silver with 497.9 points, leaving their fellow countrymen of Team China 2 in third place with 433.1 points.
Israel (Tal Engler and Sergey Richter) followed the medalists in 4th place with 389.8 points, while Team Korea 1 (Jung Eunhea and Kim Hyeonjun) took the 5th place with 347.7 points.
Rio 2016 Silver medalist Kamenskiy said:
“It’s my first time in a mixed team event final, and therefore my first medal in this event. It’s real fun.”
The expert 31-year old rifle shooter teamed up with Galashina, a 1997’s up-and-coming athlete who already set two junior world records in 2016 and 2017, winning two ISSF Junior World Cup editions and an European Championship junior title.
“I am lucky to have a teammate like Anstasiia. She shot great, especially in the last part of the match, she was unstoppable!” Kamenskiy said.
