2012 ISSF Shotgun World Cup Final opened in Maribor (SLO)
The best shooters of the world meet the London 2012 Olympic
Champion in the last Shotgun match of the year in Maribor: who will win this
year’s ISSF World Cup Series?
The 2012 ISSF Shotgun World Cup Final kicked off in Maribor, Slovenia, today.
Fifty-seven international shooters coming from 28 countries, will be competing here, from today right to the 25th of September, in the five Olympic Shotgun events.
Only the bests shooters are here: the eight top shooters qualified throughout this year’s ISSF World Cup Series will meet the defending champions, and the medallists of the 2012 London Olympics, in the most exciting match of the year.

The Final was officially opened this afternoon, at the Gaj Shooting Club of Maribor, in a ceremony attended by athletes, ISSF and local authorities.
“On behalf of the ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña and of the ISSF Secretary General Franz Schreiber, I would like to welcome everybody here in Maribor.” Mr. Demetris Lordos, the ISSF Technical Delegate for this competition, said.
“We have the top 12 shooters in each Shotgun event, here in Maribor. You are Champions – Mr. Lordos added, addressing his speech to the participants – and I wish you all a successful competition in fair play.”
“It’s an honour to have such top shooters here in Slovenia. Shooting is a well developed and recognized sport, in our country, and has given us several Olympic medals.” Slovenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Dr Žiga Turk, said, officially declaring the competition opened.
“This is a dream came true: the best shooters of the world will be competing here in Maribor, in the next days” The President of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Igor Ragusa, said. “We want to thank all the volunteers, the authorities and the sponsors, for helping us in making it possible.”
The first medal match, (Trap Women), will take place tomorrow, Saturday the 22nd , at 15:00.
