Felipe Wu, BRA, again at the top of the ISSF World Ranking - 10m Air Pistol
The Brazilian athlete Felipe Almeida Wu, winning the gold medal at the ISSF World Cup in Baku, AZE, during the last month, he required his best position in the ISSF World Ranking in the discipline of 10m Air Pistol becoming again number 1 in the World ranking.
This was his second gold medal of the 2016 season, the other was in Bankok in Thailand last March. In 2015, Wu won the competition at the Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada, winning the gold medal and the Quota place for Brazil to the Olympic Games.
Still as a Junior athlete, 17 years, Wu won the right to participate in 2010 the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, thus beginning his successful trajectory winning the Silver medal. At this time, Felipe Wu showed that he would be a great promise for the Brazilian shooting sport and went far beyond, becoming a member of the elite group of the world shooting sport
This is a very active discipline with over 140 ranked athletes from all around the world and among them a lot of experienced athletes like Jin Jungoh from South Korea, current World and Olympic champion and current World recordist.
Wu has a teammate, Julio Almeida, an experienced athlete, 17th place in the world ranking, that will be shooting the same disciplines as him during the Olympics. This fellowship is important because they will be training together it eventually becomes an incentive for both and driving up the result of the two.
Felipe Wu and Julio Almeida will now have a period of 5 weeks of training and preparation for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. We will all be hoping that they get a great result for Brazil.
