XXXI Olympic Games · Rio de Janeiro, BRA
The second match of the opening day at the Olympic Shooting Centre will see Republic of Korea’s Jin Jongoh compete for his second, consecutive Gold medal in the 10m Air Pistol Men event. Hometown hero Felipe Almeida Wu of Brazil, current leader of the World Ranking, will be among the many, fierce contenders.
The 10m Air Pistol Men event will deliver today’s second Gold medal at the Olympic Shooting Centre in the Deodoro Park.

The title defender, Jin Jongoh of the Republic of Korea, will try to become the first back-to-back Olympic Champion in this event, as he pocketed the Gold medal at London 2012, where he also reached the top of the podium in the 50m Pistol Men.

Among his many opponents, Jin will have to face the athlete that bested him at the 2008 Olympics, Pang Wei of the Republic of China, also an ISSF World Championship Gold medallist in this event in 2006.

Hometown favorite Felipe Almeida Wu of Brazil, the current leader of the World Ranking in the 10m Air Pistol Men event, will try to live up to the high expectations that surround him after he pocketed  two of this year’s World Cup Gold medals in Bangkok (THA) and Baku (AZE). Oleh Omelchuk of the Ukraine and Pablo Carrera of Spain will also enter the firing range with an ISSF World Cup Gold medal around their neck.

Rafael Antonio Lacayo Paladino will represent Nicaragua after bearing his country’s flag at yesterday’s Opening Ceremony.

The final match of the 10m Air Pistol Men is scheduled at 3:30 AM (UTC-3).

News and updates about the Olympic Shooting events will be available on the ISSF website and on the Federation’s social media profiles: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Weibo.
