The 10m Air Rifle Women will deliver the first Gold medal of the Olympics on August 6th. 390 athletes from 97 National Olympic Committees will compete in the 15 events of the Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun disciplines.
The wait is over. The Games of the XXXI Olympiad will officially open tomorrow, when the opening ceremony will take place at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro (BRA).
On August 6th, then, the Shooting sport will award the first Gold medal of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, following a tradition that was also respected at Beijing 2008 and London 2012. At 10:30 AM (UTC-3), in fact, the Olympic Shooting Centre, located inside the Deodoro Park, will host the final of the 10m Air Rifle Women event, followed at 3:30 PM by the 10m Air Pistol Men final.

390 athletes will compete in the 15 Olympic Shooting events, 239 men and 151 women, representing 97 National Olympic Committees and piling up total 555 starts thanks to 165 double starts.
The youngest among the 390 participants will be Aislin Jones of Canada, who will compete in the Skeet Women event at 16 years old, while the oldest one will be Paraguay’s 56-year-old Bernardo Reichardt, competing in the Double Trap Men.
