14th ISSF Workshop opened: 70 delegates, 40 organizing committees meet in Munich

The annual ISSF Championship Organizers Workshop marked a new record in participation, as representatives of 40 organizing committees landed in Munich to share their experiences.
The 2016 ISSF Championship Organizers Workshop kicked off in Munich, Germany, today.

The meeting, which involves ISSF officials and over 70 delegates from 40 organizing committees for a total of 100 participants, is held at the Hilton Park Hotel on the 18th and 19th of November.

The ISSF President Olegario Vazquez Raña opened the 14th edition of workshop – which was launched in 2003 – welcoming the participants, who arrived here to share their experiences and learn best practices in the field of championship organization.  

“Why are we here?” Said the ISSF Secretary General Franz Schreiber in his opening speech. “We are here to empower our network by sharing experiences, and to learn how to prepare and conduct a successful ISSF competition.”

“During this workshop, the organizers of the 2016 ISSF championship and qualified ISSF officials are meeting the organizing committees of the 2017 and 2018 championships.” The ISSF Vice-President and Workshop Director Gary L. Anderson said today. “We will offer a lot of information during this two-day meeting. The aim is to make our events more attractive, and deliver excellent competitions.”

During the workshop, delegates will receive several presentations in the fields of Results, Timing and Scoring; ISSF support services; Jury selections and policies; Communication and TV programs; Shooting venue requirements; Field of play look and feel; Equipment control; Environmental issues; Anti-doping programs and other topics related to the organization of a shooting event.

All presentations and documents presented during the workshop will be available for download in the “Organizers” section of the ISSF website.
