PUNE: Change will be flavour of the season when shooters across the world come to the Karni Singh Ranges in Tughlakabad in February next year.

The venue will not be just hosting its first ever World Cup, it will also become the first calendar event to try out new mixed team events recommended by the world shooting body on Thursday.

The International Shooting Sport Federation's (ISSF) Ad-Hoc committee has recommended to drop men's double trap, 50m rifle prone and 50m pistol events from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics program. The events will be replaced by mixed-gender team events in double trap, 10m air rifle and 10m air pistol categories respectively.

National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) president Raninder Singh, who is also one of the executive committee members of the ISSF, confirmed that Delhi will be the first to try out the new categories.

"The ISSF governing council and executive committee meetings are scheduled to be held two days before the World Cup begins. The final decision on the new events will be taken then. Nonetheless, the new events will be tried out at the World Cup along with the old events," Raninder told TOI.

Since the rules of the new events are yet to be formed, the NRAI will not test them at the shooting nationals in Pune from December 13.
