IPC Shooting has signed a three year deal with SIUS, the world’s leading producer of electronic scoring systems, as the official target system and results provider for IPC Shooting at regional, world and World Cup events until 2016.
The contract was signed by Frank Merian, Chief Executive Officer of SIUS, at a meeting with representatives of IPC Shooting at the IPC’s headquarters in Bonn, Germany, today (14 November).
SIUS becomes the first Official Partner of IPC Shooting following the huge growth in the sport over the past 12 months since London 2012.
Xavier Gonzalez, International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Chief Executive Officer said: “Having SIUS on board is great for IPC Shooting.
“They are sure to provide the sport with a high quality, consistent service that will improve the competition experience for shooters and fans alike.
“Not only this, but they will also play a crucial role in continuing the development of shooting para-sport in partnership with IPC Shooting over the coming years.”
SIUS Chief Executive Officer Frank Merian said: “We are honoured by this sign of confidence from IPC Shooting by entering this agreement with us and we are proud of being in the position to adjust our services to their specific requirements.
“By organising these competitions, IPC Shooting is providing the stage to tie people. This is a further motivation for us to contribute our part to have these events become memorable ones for all athletes, as well as for the audience.
“Our experienced team will be pleased to accept this challenge and will do its utmost to achieve the aim and to fully meet the requirements of IPC Shooting at any time.”
Starting from 2014, SIUS will provide services for all IPC Shooting World Cups and major championships, including the 2014 World Championships in Suhl, Germany, where around 300 athletes from 50 countries will compete at the historic Suhl-Friedberg Shooting Centre from 19-26 July.
The 2014 shooting calendar will kick off in Stoke Mandeville, Great Britain, on 26 March with the first World Cup of the year. Further World Cups will also take place in Poland, Thailand and in the USA.
Shooting fans will be able to access live results for all competitions provided by SIUS at the IPC Shooting website.
