1st EUROPEAN GAMES - BAKU 2015 - AZERBAIJAN


ALL BEST EUROPEAN SHOOTERS WILL COME TO BAKU

All best European shooters are going to participate in the 1st European Games in Baku. Among the competitors are Olympic and World Champions, winners of the 2015 ISSF World Cups, leaders of the current World and European Rankings.


In every of the three Men’s Pistol events, for example, the three top shooters of the current ESC Ranking are in the participants’ list: Yusuf Dikec (Turkey), Joao Costa (Portugal) and Damir Mikec (Serbia) – in 10m Air Pistol, Oliver Geis and Christian Reitz (both Germany) as well as Roman Bondaruk (Ukraine) – in 25m Rapid Fire Pistol, Damir Mikec, Joao Costa and Anton Gourianov (Russia) – in 50m Pistol. All together there will be 61 Pistol shooters and 23 of them will compete in two events. It means, 84 starts are expected in three Men’s Pistol events.

Even more tense should be the competitions in Men’s Rifle events. 65 shooters have been registered to compete. 11 of them will take part in all three events, another 18 will be double starters. The total number of starts will be 105. Among the contenders are leaders of the 
current ESC Ranking: Niccolo Campriani (Italy) – in 10m Air Rifle, Sergey Kamenskiy (Russia) – in 50m 3 Positions, Daniel Brodmeier (Germany) – in 50m Prone.

The elite of European Men’s Shotgun will be in Baku. The leaders of the current World and European Rankings David Kostelecky (Czech Republic) in Trap and Anthony Terras (France) – in Skeet will face a strong rivalry from other top-ranked shooters. In Trap among them are numbers 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the current ESC Ranking Massimo Fabbrizi (Italy), Josip Glasnovic (Croatia), Giovanni Pellielo (Italy) and Eric Varga (Slovakia). In Skeet – the World Champion Alexander Zemlin (Russia), Jesper Hansen (Denmark), Georgios Achilleos (Cyprus), Valerio Luchini and Riccardo Filippelli (both - Italy). In Double Trap seven of the top 10 European shooters will be competing for the medals of the 1st European Games. Among them is the leader of the current ESC Ranking Antonio Barilla (Italy) as well as his follow-ups Vasily Mosin (Russia) and Steven Scott (Great Britain).

The leaders of the current ISSF and ESC Rankings Antoaneta Boneva (Bulgaria) and Snjezana Pejcic (Croatia) top the list of participants in the Women’s Pistol and Rifle events.

There will be 42 competing athletes in two Women’s Pistol events and 23 out of them will be double starters. In 10m Air Pistol Olena Kostevych (Ukraine) – number 2 of the current ESC Ranking and Bobana VELICKOVIC (Serbia) – number 4 of this Ranking as well as many other strong shooters will try to beat Antoaneta Boneva. In 25m Pistol her main rivals may be numbers 2, 3 and 4 of the current ESC Ranking Monika Karsch (Germany), Heidi Diethelm Gerber (Switzerland) and Renata Tobai Sike (Hungary).

51 athletes will make the total of 73 starts in two Rifle events. In 10m Air Rifle current ESC Ranking the leader is Andrea Arsovic from Serbia. She will face competition of other 38 shooters from 24 countries! In 50m 3 Positions Snjezana Pejcic will have to prove her leadership in rivalry with 33 shooters. Among them - is number 2 of the current ESC Ranking Petra Zublasing (Italy) and the 2014 World Champion Beate Gauss (Germany).

Women’s Shotgun events are supposed to be very exciting. The participants’ list in Trap is headed by the leader of the World and European Ranking Satu Makela-Nummela (Finland) and in Skeet - by the leader of the World and European Ranking Diana Bacosi (Italy). The top five of the current ESC Ranking in both Trap and Skeet will be in Baku. In Trap Satu Makela-Nummela will face competition of Zuzana Rehak Stefecekova (Slovakia), Fatima Galvez (Spain), Tatiana Barsuk (Russia), Alessandra Perilli (San-Marino) and other 15 shooters including the 2014 World Champion Katrin Quooss from Germany. In Skeet Diana Bacosi will have as main rivals her compatriot Chiara Cainero, Albina Shakirova (Russia), Danka Bartekova (Slovakia) and Elena Allen (Great Britain).
