Over 500 athletes start 2015 ISSF Junior Cup in Suhl, Germany

The competition's 2nd edition will host 572 athletes from 44 nations, adding up to 948 starts
Hosting 572 athletes from 44 nations, the 2015 ISSF Junior Cup has just started in Suhl, Germany.


The competition will run until next Thursday, July 2nd (see schedule by day, or by event).


The Junior Cup--which had debuted last year in the same city--features rifle, pistol, shotgun, and mixed events for shooters that are up to 20 years of age.


This year, shooters will add up to 948 starts.


The first event will be the mixed air rifle and air pistol Junior Super Cup, which has started at 2 pm (CEST).


The first Olympic events will be tomorrow's men's 50m rifle prone, and double trap--respectively, at 3:15 pm, and at 4 pm (see start lists).
On top of the Olympic events, shooters will also take part in three non-Olympic events, and in two mixed events that had debuted at last year's Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China.

Uzbekistan's Vladimir Svechnikovwho won the mixed 10m Air Pistol in Nanjing, will be competing in Suhl too. So will Singapore's Teh Xiu Yi and Egypt's Ahmed Mohamed, who had come in second, and Latvia's Agate Rasmane, who had taken bronze. (See results for both events).

Suhl will also host the ISSF Running Target World Championship next year, and the first ISSF Junior World Championship in 2017.
