The first ever Target Sprint international competition is about to take place in Suhl

ISSF World Championship Target Sprint · Suhl, GER
Almost 80 athletes, representing 10 National Olympic Committees, will participate in the historic ISSF World Championship Target Sprint, scheduled in Suhl (GER) from June 22nd to June 26th.
After traveling to five countries in three continents, the International Shooting Sport Federation approaches the second half of the 2017 season by celebrating its first official competition of a new discipline: the ISSF World Championship Target Sprint, taking place in Suhl (GER) from the 22nd to the 26th of June.

First introduced in 2013 and being tested multiple times during these four years, Target Sprint combines middle-distance running and air rifle shooting, a mix that already attracted many athletes from different disciplines, such as track and field and biathlon, who gave it a try and welcomed Target Sprint positively.

Seven medal events will take place in Suhl, scheduled on Saturday, June 24th and on Sunday, June 25th. 78 athletes from 10 nations will participate, competing in four individual and three team events, including a mixed one.

Here’s the schedule of the seven races, taking place at Platz der Deutschen Einheit, in downtown Suhl:

Saturday, June 24th
Target Sprint Women Junior at 5:20 pm (UTC+2:00)
Target Sprint Women at 5:40 pm
Target Sprint Men Junior at 6:00 pm
Target Sprint Men at 6:20 pm

Sunday, June 25th
Target Sprint Women Team at 1:30 pm
Target Sprint Men Team at 2:00 pm
Target Sprint Mixed Team at 2:30 pm

The track measures 400 meters, while the falling-targets are placed at a 10 meters distance from the firing line. For a complete sum up of the Target Sprint rules click here.

The ISSF Junior World Championship Target Sprint will take place almost simultaneously with the ISSF Junior World Championship Rifle/Pistol, also scheduled in Suhl from June 22nd to June 29th.
