Rio de Janeiro - At a meeting held on the
afternoon of Wednesday, April 24, in the auditorium of the Brazilian Shooting
Confederation, in Rio de Janeiro, Fred Costa was elected the new president of
CBTE. The term of office is four years and will be until April 2017. The
confederation was under judicial administration, and had Paulo Lima e Silva
directing the entity, since April 2010. The vote was secret and the candidate
Fred Costa was elected with 14 of 22 votes while the other candidate, Jodson
Edington, got 7 votes, and one federation voted blank.
After the meeting had started promptly at 14h,
the electoral process was initiated. The election took place normally and one
hour after the start of the meeting the vote was closed. The votes were counted
and at the end of the calculation Fred Coast was officially declared the winner.
In his speech, the elected president said his willingness is to count on the
support of all Federations including those who did not vote on him. Fred said
that the Confederation will be at the service of all members, and said the aims
for his management will be to increase the number of practitioners of the
shooting sports throughout the country and a large preparation of our top
athletes, looking for good results in the Pan-American Games in Toronto, Canada
in 2015 and in the Olympics in Rio in 2016.
